Leeloo, I think Zeus in your chart has lovely connections, just a feeling ^^.

I hope so

So basically, Circe is like a test of faithfulness, yet a successful one? After all, one can't prove their faithfulness unless confronted with temptation.

I'm thinking composite Circe in aspect to Ulysses/Odysseus in the chart could also mean someone or something will interpose as an obstacle at some point, yet it will not succeed in separating them. What do you think?

Another possible theme of devotion/faithfulness is the couple Orpheus/Eurydice: (I saw What Dreams May Come last night )

The most famous story in which Orpheus figures is that of his wife Eurydice (sometimes referred to as Euridice and also known as Argiope). While walking among her people, the Cicones, in tall grass at her wedding, Eurydice was set upon by a satyr. In her efforts to escape the satyr, Eurydice fell into a nest of vipers and suffered a fatal bite on her heel. Her body was discovered by Orpheus who, overcome with grief, played such sad and mournful songs that all the nymphs and gods wept. On their advice, Orpheus travelled to the underworld and by his music softened the hearts of Hades and Persephone (he was the only person ever to do so), who agreed to allow Eurydice to return with him to earth on one condition: he should walk in front of her and not look back until they both had reached the upper world. He set off with Eurydice following, and, in his anxiety, as soon as he reached the upper world, he turned to look at her, forgetting that both needed to be in the upper world, and she vanished for the second time, but now forever.

Orpheus 3361
Eurydike 75

And of course, Eros and Psyche, with Psyche being the one taking a journey of trials and devotion, faithful to her search to reunite and be with Eros.

The myth of Psyche and Eros

The myth of Psyche and Eros is probably one of the most beautiful Greek myths; it has been told and retold in several different versions and it has inspired artists all over the world.

The archetype of the Greek myth of Psyche and Eros appears regularly in movies and artifacts even today.

Psyche – the gorgeous maiden

Psyche was a woman gifted with extreme beauty and grace, one of the mortal women whose love and sacrifice for her beloved God Eros earned her immortality.

Psyche became, as Greek word “psyche” implies, the deity of soul. To modern days, the myth of Psyche symbolizes a self-search and personal growth through learning, losing, and saving the real love.

Living her ordinary life, Psyche became famous because of her beauty that the whole world rushed to see.

Being jealous due to men’s admiration for Psyche, Goddess Aphrodite asked her son, the powerful master of love, Eros, to poison men’s souls in order to kill off their desire for Psyche. But Eros also fell in love with Psyche and was completely mesmerized by her beauty.

Despite all the men coming her way, Psyche stayed unmarried, but she wanted to marry the man she would love. Her parents became so desperate because of their daughter’s destiny and had no choice but to ask for an oracle, hoping that they would manage to solve the mystery and give a husband to their daughter.

Eros guided Apollo to give the oracle that Psyche would marry an ugly beast whose face she would never be able to see, and he would wait for her at the top of the mountain.
Eros and Psyche

It was not what Psyche’s parents were hoping for; on the contrary, they were completely devastated, as their daughter was not supposed to have such as fate, but they decided to go on and arranged the wedding of their beloved daughter with the beast.

After the wedding, Psyche was able to be with her husband only at night. His tenderness and the enormous love he showed to her made Psyche happy and fulfilled beyond her expectations and dreams. She talked about her happiness with her sisters and confined in them how sad she was she couldn’t see his face.

eros and psycheHence, the jealous sisters persuaded Psyche that her lover is not only an ugly beast but also a monster who would eventually kill her, so she should kill him first to save herself.

With the oil lamp and knife in her hands, Psyche one night was ready for murder, but when she enlightened the face of her beast-husband she saw the beautiful God Eros. Caught by surprise, she spilled the oil on his face. Eros woke up and flew away telling Psyche that she betrayed him and ruined their relationship so that they could never be united again.

Psyche started searching for her lost love, and finally was suggested to beg Aphrodite, who imprisoned Eros in the Palace, to see him. Aphrodite gave her three impossible tasks to accomplish in order to prove her love.

Driven by her desire to reunite with Eros, she was fearless. After accomplishing the first two tasks, Psyche had to go to the Hades (Underworld) and bring the box with the elixir of beauty to Aphrodite, who ordered her not to open the box. Instead of the elixir, there was Morpheus (the god of sleep and dreams) hiding in the box and since the curious Psyche opened it, she fell asleep.

Eros found out what happened, run away from the Palace, and begged Zeus to save his Psyche. Amazed by their love, Zeus went even further – he made Psyche immortal so that two lovers could be together forever.

Do you think it means some form of trial?

I think so, yes. It shows a trial where devotion/faithfulness is an issue.

But you are right, it would be fun to check Zeus, the ultimate let's say "naughty" god

Our Orpheus/Eurydice aspects are very nice.

I have Eurydice conjunct Mercury exact. I think this is a nice aspect to have, since she was an Apollo nymph.

My Eurydice/Mercury opp his Orpheus (3)
His Eurydice conjunct my Sun (1) squares my Orpheus (2)

This means a lot of aspects between those and our planets.

In the composite, Eurydice conjunct Penelope exact, Orpheus square Odysseus/Ulysses exact. I thought that was interesting.

Also, Orpheus sesquisquare Eurydice exact.

In Davison, there is a wonderful Mystic Rectangle with

Penelope/Eurydice 16 Virgo 4th house
Juno/Jupiter 14/16 Pisces 10th
Odysseus/Ulysses 16/19 Taurus 11th
Vertex/Orpheus 19/20 Scorpio 5th

So Eurydice sextile Orpheus a bit wide, 4, but still, the whole config is nice.

Circe loved him or was fascinated with him, because they were equals, and he treated her as an equal.
he apparently did not notice 5 years passed by, so yes in fact, he was "drunk". I suppose infatuated and also enticed by her, sexually and otherwise.

Simplistically speaking Circe represented the mistress, Penelope the wife.

Of course Circe is much more than just a mistress, I think she was demi-goddess as well. Enchantress (in more senses than one), witch and eventually - maybe different to Kalypso- she let him go and showed him the right way.

I was wrong though, it was really one year later, she let him go, not 5. Though I also read they were having 3 children, unless those were triplets, hmmm, makes you think.

" Circe also shows us as readers Odysseus’ weakness towards lust and sexuality. This time spent on Circe’s island was a test of whether he could resist lust from a goddess, and he fails. At first it appears as though the only reason Odysseus sleeps with Circe is to regain his companions, but she easily persuades them to stay. What makes it worse is the fact that Odysseus is not even the first one ready to go. His men are the ones who urge him to leave: "What ails you now? It is time to think about our own country" (Book X, line 472). At a glance, it appears that Odysseus is merely succumbing to Circe’s schemes for reasons related to their health and well being, if we read between the lines, we soon begin to realize that Odysseus is weak in the voracious hands of lust."

I honestly don't know how I feel about relating this theory to age progression. I don't feel that it was true for me, and yet I do feel that the order of planets applies to me. So, I don't think so, but I have no evidence for or against.

Your theory is interesting, can you explain a bit more?

In Greek myth, there is a difference. Athena became Pallas Athena after a rash incident in which she killed a friend. She then took her name with her own, as tribute. It's quite an interesting myth, you should look it up. So Athena is the "young" Athena, and Pallas Athena the wiser, more mature Athena.

In reality, it's actually a matter of explaining away a different Athena tradition, as myth is by its nature non-monolithic... But for the sake of not going into anthropology/ethnology, I'd just take it as "young" and "mature" Athena.

Considering he is a singer, I am curious about Orpheus

Well in my natal:

ORPHEUS 10 Aquarius / 2nd house
- conj. PALLAS exact
- trine Pluto
- sextile NN/Neptune/Atlantis/ASC

EURDIKE 15 Scorpio / 11th house
- conj. SIVA, LANCELOT, LONDON; MOIRA and what do I know. lol
- Grand trine with JUNO 16 Pisces, Saturn 16 Cancer

his natal:

ORPHEUS: 8 Capricorn 11th house
- Grand trine with Chiron in 9 Taurus and Mars/Jupiter/Amor from 9-11 Virgo
- sextile EROS on 8 Pisces (Make that a Kite then )

EURIDYKE: 26 Sagittarius 9th house
- conjunct Sun by only ONE minute of orb°
- conjunct Moon and MC as well
- Square saturn on DESC
- conjunct Penelope (3 degrees).

synastrically:

his ORPHEUS:
- conjunct my Venus, ISIS, OSIRIS and SPIRIT
(conj. with ISIS is exact: 8 Capricorn)
- square my Pluto exact
- trine my HEKATE On 8 Virgo exact
- trine my asteroid LILITH on 6 Virgo
- sextile my ISHTAR on 8 Pisces (speaking of seductresses ).

My HEKATE-LILITH falls onto his Mars-Jupiter, AMOR; my ISHTAR-CERES-ZEUS-PHOLUS falls onto his EROS, thus it is all part of that huge earth Kite.

his EURYDIKE:
- conjunct my Sun (1)
- conjunct my Mercury (1)
- conj. my VESTA wide (4) but antiscion!
- conj. my CIRCE exact
- sextile my ADONIS exact (Ishtar`s partner)

my ORPHEUS:
- sextile his Mercury-MUSA
- conjuncts his SAPPHO (3)
- quinkunx his Mars-Jupiter-AMOR
- square his Chiron
- opposite his HEKATE

Hekate is interesting, not only because she is a witch, but she was one of only 2 gods I think who could move effortlessly between olymp, earth and underworld.

My EURIDIKE:
- conjunct his ULYSSES
- square his SAPPHO
- suqare his HEKATE widely (3 degrees - making a T-square with his Sapho-Hekate).

But that is about it.

(unless we count the wide conjunction to his Valentine - 4 degrees).

Oh and his PROSERPINA is conjunct my ORPHEUS, trine my Pluto.

his PERSEPHONE is conj. his own HEKATE and thus both are square my EURIDIKE and opposing my ORPHEUS. Orpheus and Euridike are too far in orb in my chart to make a square, 10 Aquarius and 15 Scorpio, but his HEKATE on 12 Leo and PERSEPHONE on 13 Leo might act as bridge.

Oh and my ORPHEUS/EURYDIKE_mp is conjunct his EURYDIKE on my CIRCE-Sun and his Sun-Moon-MC-exact.

my ODYSSEUS/CIRCE-mp falls onto his AMOR-Mars-Jupiter and opposing his EROS.

his ODYSSEUS/PENELOPE-mp falls onto my Neptune-NN exact (his Mercury-Musa)

his ODYSSEUS/CIRCE-mp conj my Sun-Mercury.

his ORPHEUS/EURYDIKE-mp on my VESTA

oh btw I forgot:

his ORPHEUS conjunct my ISIS_OSIRIS
my ORPHEUS trine his ISIS
(both ORpheus-Isis-aspects are exact, and in fact his Draco ISIS falls onto 8 Capricorn as well!)

Sabian:
An Angel Carrying A Harp

I couldn`t think of a better Sabian for that!

I like my Eurydike Sabian as well
A Girl's Face Breaking Into A Smile

(my Orpheus: During A Silent Hour, A Man Receives A New Inspiration Which May Change His Life
his Eurydike: A Sculptor At His Work)

Interesting. In this case, I think we should consider Circe separately in synastry and the composite. I'm thinking like this:

Circe in a woman's chart represents a point where she can become this sort of sexual/lustful "spell" for a man, one who bewitches him sexually, juts like Circe did with Oysses.

Of course in the natal, a prominent Circe in a woman's chart would show she can become this sort of "spell" for a man: she is alluring and attractive this way. Like you, Ceri, with your Circe conjunct Sun wow! It doesn't mean those who don't have Circe prominent are less alluring, because they may have other markers for that like Lilith, Cupido, Aphrodite etc. (Like your Cupido aspects, Enneline )

Perhaps Circe connected to a certain planet in a woman's natal shows what is her strongest appeal in this respect, her erotic "spell". Like your Jupiter, Cappy (which could mean many things: your radiance, your sense of humor, your height or any other Jupiterian physical traits, your happy nature or lust for life, your generosity - all this could enhance your sexual allure for a partner - with them, you could make a man "drunk" with lust for you).

In a man's natal chart, Circe will, of course, be the woman who is a Circe for him, who enchants him, who is this kind of temptation, who is a sexual spell for him and could make him a "prisoner" in this respect.

In synastry, the connection would show this type of dynamics and in the composite, a direct contact between Ulysses/Odysseus and Circe or any other significant Circe contact (like on angle, connected to Sun or Mars Venus etc.) probably shows this relationship indicates this type of sexual "intoxication" spell. This, of course, for good or bad.

There is some sort of similarity with Lilith then. But Circe is too awesome as an enchantress and sexual witch to be reduced to the symbol of a simple trial. So I guess it's an asteroid similar in energy with Lilith, Aphrodite, Lust, Sappho etc.

- first and second part of life

I honestly don't know how I feel about relating this theory to age progression. I don't feel that it was true for me, and yet I do feel that the order of planets applies to me. So, I don't think so, but I have no evidence for or against.

Your theory is interesting, can you explain a bit more?

I look at this order of planets in the houses. For example, my 7th house starts with Saturn on DSC, then Cupido conjunct DSC, then Moon Priapus Amor and Venus is the last on the 8th cusp. Venus is like a key coming from the 7th and opening the 8th. This could mean (and it does) my 1st approach on relationships (choosing a partner) is Saturnian (I need time, I evaluate, test etc.) Then Cupido there, across the DSC (Saturn is in the 6th) shows I'm ready to enter a relationship only when in love. Then, whilst in the relationship, the Lunar/Priapus part is the first one being activated (needs, caring, emotions etc.) and only after a while Venus comes in full blow.

But planets on a house cusp also show that house is "opened" by that planet: which means the most important thing in this life about that house or several important events related to that house will be connected to that planetary energy. This could be triggered directly (into the house) or indirectly, by transits or progressions of that planet.

Another thing I noticed: planets in the first part-related to youth/first part of life, planets in the last part - showing later events. I noticed for instance, Robin Williams had the Mars/Uranus conjunction late in the 8th house, which suggests a possible violent, sudden death (Mars/Uranus in 8th) during older age.

However, this is not proven, it's more like fortune-telling, old astrology.

his natal:

ORPHEUS: 8 Capricorn 11th house
- Grand trine with Chiron in 9 Taurus and Mars/Jupiter/Amor from 9-11 Virgo
- sextile EROS on 8 Pisces (Make that a Kite then )

EURIDYKE: 26 Sagittarius 9th house
- conjunct Sun by only ONE minute of orb°
- conjunct Moon and MC as well
- Square saturn on DESC
- conjunct Penelope (3 degrees)

I think it's interesting how Orpheus trines his 6th stellium, how fit for a professional singer, and he does sing love songs, right? (Eros apex)

Also his Sun/Eurydice, another marker, and your Sun/Mercury is right there.

And his Sabian is like...wow!
