I never meant any offence with my comment.----------------At the end of the day, some things are simply not to be made fun of. It can, in fact, have harmful consequences to minimise certain issues with "humour". Such as supporting stigma ("ach, just pull yourself together", "man-up, there's nothing wrong with you", etc) Suicide is a leading cause of death in this world. Many go to therapy at their lowest ebb, and with suicidal thoughts or plans. Can we also make a joke out of the holocaust? ------------- There have been more victims of suicide than there were in the holocaust. This will never be funny. Were we a more open and supportive world to mental health issues, then perhaps we could find the funny, however, as long as there remains discrimination, stigma, and preventable deaths, we haven't earned the right to relax with a good joke over this one. I'm proud to be unpopular with the cool kid cliques who fancy themselves "free and easy", and advocate for those who don't have the luxury of laughing at themselves because they are too busy trying to make it to tomorrow. No apologies here. IP: Logged |

I don't think anyone here was trying to pick a fight. Actually Dopgang was very kind in the way he/she points it out. I think some ppl would have put it more bluntly or meanly. And the reason partially for why they didn't is because your "roasting" didn't anger them all that much. That "meh" response... If you don't welcome debate, you should have just posted on your website, closed the comment section. *shrug* None of us here really followed you around. I have received comments of this type all the time and I take it as feedback. if you chooses to ignore feedback, you won't grow.

Wow Voix. I am sorry but the intention of this thread was never to minimize mental health problems, I Never took it like that and yes there are astrological markers for certain mental health issues like depression. For example, I have an afflicted moon with pluto conjunct saturn in the 12th and have dealt with mood swings most of my life.I have been working with the poor since 2008 as a social worker and for several years have been working with people who are mentally ill as a counselor and I take what I do really seriously and give my all to my clients and they show me a lot of appreciation for good reason, I make them feel truly loved and accepted and do genuinely make a difference. I work very hard, I received recognition just this week because of it actually... But honestly I find how this thread has evolved disgusting when the only reason why I came on it in the first place is because I thought it was going to be a light and fun thread, that is the only reason why I entered it so I am out of here. Good luck to everyone! ADD: One more thing I have never being one of the people that hang out with the cool kids! ever. Actually I was rejected by the cool kids bc I insisted on been equally nice to everyone in the past. IP: Logged |

As for me I am the first one to tell my clients I am the last person that has any right to judge anyone so know that this is a safe place to talk to me about anything. I am very aware of my flaws and my dark side and just like I can feel extreme anger and give you a death look I love and feel compassion for others just as hard and intensely but I am NO cupcake, I am complex and full of flaws but also have a huge heart.
I know my flaws, as well. What gets to me is when other people can't admit to theirs and blame it on people like me. I wasn't having a go at Ami - I just posted my post, after seeing SA's. I pretty much *was* a cupcake for years. Except for being messy, and sometimes noisier than others. You're making assumptions about people here, too. And I wish that when people post vague things like this, they would actually address the people they're talking about, rather than making it a free-for-all, where everyone can take it personally. Just let the one person get offended, and leave it at that. There are people on this board who act like they're perfect cupcakes - I agree (I've been on the receiving end of their attacks, and made out to be the problem), but I don't see any of them in this thread. People who have low self esteem/little man syndrome pick fights with others to try to act big.
I'm not a winner, but this isn't true of me, and I wasn't baiting you. I knew I shouldn't have posted anything. I'm going to delete mine from earlier. quote:

If one leaves, another pops up, so as long as you are a visible figure, you will get this. I have learned how to deal with these kind of people. I am grateful for that. Most people on LL are amazing. The jerky 2-5% is just something that kind of mirrors life. If you can't take that heat, don't be a Mod PS It still is really nice to have friends who will stand up for me cuz no one likes to be attacked and it feels really bad for anyone to be attacked.
I really, really appreciate people who will stand up for someone. I stand up for people who are being attacked. I even stood up for one of these people when people bullied him off LL He wrote to me and I helped him to stay on LL lol I hate bullying and being a jerk for no reason, so I stand up when I see it.
Well, I'm trying to just survive right now. Missing my mother, and I was exhausted from lack of sleep, this morning. I was skimming, and not really paying much attention. But I think the beginning of your post is part of the problem, Ami. You're putting people down, as well. I just want to go back to sleep. I don't even want to be here. IP: Logged |

Me, too! I still stand up for people. And the "cool kids" can actually be cool, and friendly. Those that are friends of mine, don't mind when I defend someone to them. And, for the record, I saw it as a joke thread, too - I just responded when I saw another person's post. Ami said it could be serious, too, so hey, I added mine. IP: Logged |

^ Yeah it's almost like a Magic Eye picture...some people see it, some don't.--- Just tossing this out there...hypatia's "cool people" comment got me thinking, maybe I should clarify my motivations: Sometimes the underdogs are not who we think they are. Anyone who challenges Ami is also challenging Randall who owns the site. They are also making Ami's friends (or "friends") upset. So it's risky and uncomfortable to say anything. It makes ME look like a jerk. But I BELIEVE people ought to be able to hear what others really think about Ami, and how we are reacting to her twisted behavior...because I certainly didn't like being duped by her, and I hate to watch her doing it to others. Wolf in sheep's clothing And for HER sake above all else, I wish she'd evolve past this. It wouldn't even be hard. Just take the higher road. I'm not saying she is a bad person. But her habits here, they suck. IP: Logged |

As for sensitivity to mental illness, and having the ability to laugh about it, I see it both ways. Those who know the seriousness of it might be able to make their own jokes and talk amongst themselves, using humor in a bonding type way. Those who don't should be careful they aren't being callous and mocking people's pain without knowing it. That's how I feel about childbirth. If you have DONE it, and done it the hard way and suffered...okay, we can laugh about it together now. If you haven't, do not laugh at it....you have no idea what you're even talking about. It's as funny as laughing at a war vet whose leg was blown off. (And again, amongst war vets, they might have their private humor about it, but to outsiders, respect for the pain and loss ought to be shown before laughter.) Right, Mercury Rx conjunct Jupiter. Took a break from LL and need another one already. But I guess I've said my peace. IP: Logged |

I don't think anyone was laughing about suicide, but I appreciated your comment earlier. I didn't respond to this thread when I first saw it, because it was supposed to be a joke, but it wasn't funny to me. I knew the Aries jokes would be about how terrible we are, and how we've annoyed everyone and are all alone - well, guess what? My family troubles started due to my enacting boundaries. So I just didn't comment. I've been suicidal for years now. I first dealt with it as a teenager, and the feelings all came rushing back as I've dealt with various things - and people telling me how awful I am for defending myself, and being angry at being targeted in the first place. For not being able to just get over things. I need to go back to my break from the board. IP: Logged |

@teaselI've seen some of the posts you've made regarding your current life situation, and I wanted to give you some words of inspiration. I know you may be feeling suicidal at this point in time, but you MUST NOT fall prey to it. If you go through with suicide, you'll be giving up and there is so much out there in life for you; if you stop now, you will never be able to see it. You have to stay strong and pull yourself through this, regardless of the circumstances. There may be people out there who are against you, and you may feel like everyone is against you at this point and nobody wants to help out and doesn't care. Well that's a lie, because there are people out there who do care about you, and you have to keep going in order to be with those people. You may not have found those people yet, but even so you have to stay strong and pull yourself through this, even if it seems like there is no hope left. I am 100% positive that there are people out there who do care about you and are willing to help you out with this situation, even if you haven't ran into them yet. You have to promise yourself that you don't give into suicide and you have to make an oath to pull yourself out of this so you can live the rest of your life to the fullest. It may be really hard right now to think about the great things in life because you are so focused on the negatives, but there is so much value to the life you have right now. I understand that you will need a tremendous amount of time to recover, but you have to have the strength to be able to pull yourself through it, because by giving up now you will lose absolutely everything valuable in life itself, even the things you cannot see right now. So don't give into your suicidal thoughts. Stay strong and stand boldly as you fight against this turmoil and push through it with all your strength. You're an Aries right? That's what you're made for, you can push yourself through this because you have the ability to. Don't let your depression and suicidal thoughts cloud your judgement, because you do have the power to make it through this, and you need to if you want to fulfill the greatest destiny you've been given in this life. ------------------ Scorpio Ascendant Aquarius Sun in 4th Gemini Moon in 8th Check out my blog ya'll: www.electrodgxtalks.wordpress.com IP: Logged |

The energy of Aries is to be the baby, the first born, the pioneer. You're meant to tumble, and cry before you get back up again. I hope that astrology allows you to understand that bravery and courage don't obliterate emotions but rather come from a deep emotional attachment to what should be done Who cares if someone says anything bad about Aries. I have an Aries moon FYI..... You have an exalted sun. Remember that!!! IP: Logged |
