Mockingbird,

You know that is nonsense. I was in college and broke. Yes, I always conducted myself in a genteel manner and dressed uptightly, thanks to a British boarding school education (which is pretty much free so I don't want to hear sh1t).

I am autistic. I have Aspergers. That means I'm supposed to have poor social skills.

I still had plenty of dates. Not mainly from Asians. In fact, mostly not Asians.

Stop this social class pity party BS.

If I were broke, I'll work my ass off to not be broke. Instead, you prefer to sit on your ass and b1tch and moan till the cows come home. What do you want? A free iPad too?

Do you want to see a video showing evidence that money alone doesn't work? There's a guy on YouTube which proved that he got more female attention in old Toyota than a new Lamborghini.

Easier with money? That's talking more sh1t. One for one, the guy who is intelligent and mature, and doesn't behave like a jackazz and act like a pr1ck, gets the girl, all things else held equal.

Lol no pity parties here YTA. Just being honest. You know I like you and don't have anything against you. But surely you realize coming from money puts you well ahead of the curb in such things . You have talked about being a broke college student but you still acknowledge that you dressed and looked the part. Haven't you ever heard that song by Hall and Oates? Lol

Out of touch? I was very much in touch with the girls. Thank you very much.

Mockingbird, you seem to have a real chip on your shoulder with the private sector. I know your family is with the federal government in the service, and I admire that. That is the life YOU chose. I stress YOU chose. And you live in one of the top five richest neighborhoods in America, so don't look down on the private sector.

AQ91,

You come to NYC. I'll let you dress in a suit and drive a Luxury car. I'll take the subway and wear old navy jeans. We'll walk into a public library. I'll prove to you I'll come out with a date with a real pretty girl. Heck, if I were not married, I'll show you a one night stand as well.

YTA, I am really confused by your denial of money making things easier when you just bragged in this very thread that a young pretty woman messaged you and asked you out to lunch via your linkedin profile. I'm not criticizing you I'm just answering your question. You asked why you were able to have it so easy with women while other guys struggle and I just answered your question. There are no sour grapes here, I actually admire you. It's just a fact that most aspie men struggle mightily in the dating game, if you doubt this talk to more aspie men online and ask them. Also you have to keep in mind that you are from a different time and your experiences don't represent the experiences of guys my age. Back in your day being a decent guy probably was an asset when it came to getting women but it isn't now.

My family was heavily into private sector construction as well, before my uncle managed to mess that up.
Please don't assume facts about my life and history.

My assertion that money makes things easier for men is not a reflection of a chip, it's a reflection of experience.

You're a good man, but you're deluding yourself if you think otherwise.

Re: my living a wealthy neighborhood: We are comfortable, but not wealthy. When my great-grandfather bought this land and when my grandfather built this house, Clifton was still known for bootleggers and outhouses. The taxes and inurance on our house may be more than mortgages in many parts of the country, but it is a pittance for the area.
There are "locals" in the Thousand Islands region as well living amongst unimaginable wealth but not of it, ya dig?

I agree with everything you are saying except the part where you said money makes things easier for men. Money makes life easier for men and women.

I agree w/ YTA in certain respects, too, ag - for instance, I think if you changed some of your venues and approaches, you might have more luck with girls who are "worth it" to you.

(Note: I say this having missed a good deal of exchange and so may be behind the eight ball.)

But he also cracks me up when he points out that he had no trouble getting good dates when he was a broke younger guy...going to a very good school, (if I remember correctly - I may not be) driving a very nice car, and attending the symphony.
How much are tickets to the symphony?
$65 on the low end, upwards of $250 on the high?
Just /being/ there declares something about your socioeconomic status.
Not be crass, ag, but how many hours of labor would that represent for you?
Not exactly something you could engage in on a regular basis, especially of your truck decides to break down*

* You could probably swing a rehearsal performance and meet some cute college or artsy girls your age, but (not meant to offend) they probably won't hold your social and political views.

Editing to add: And I've seen the gold digger door swing both ways - I've had well-to-do male friends who genuinely loved their spouses who were then left completely flat-footed when their wives left them when their fortunes turned south.
The market giveth and the market taketh away.

At least, ag, when you do find the right girl, you'll know that she loves you for you and not your bank account.

Adding, because I know YTA will flip out at that: That's not to say that if both spouses make wealth a priority, it's necessarily a bad thing. Both sets of my grandparents worked very hard - both jointly and in tandem - to assure healthy portfolios, and my husband and are slowly but surely (knock on wood) doing the same. If those are you values, those are your values.
But you're still delusional if you don't think there are gold-diggers aplenty in them thar hills.

I almost responded to your "point", but then I remembered that engaging you is beyond worthless.

You are probably right but money factors into that as well. I'm by no means putting YTA down and saying money is the only reason he gets women because I realize he has lots of other good qualities. It's just money can put you into venues where you can meet the quality women.

I completely agree on all counts (and edited my above post a bit) - including that YTA is a good man. But even if he wasn't, with his social cache and connections some women would pursue him (or would have no issue with being pursued).
This particular facet of human/female behavior seems to be a blind spot with him.

And I'm not saying that most women are like this - but enough are to make a difference in the dating game.

Yes, exactly. Like me, I don't have much money and have no interest in bars/clubs so my opportunities to meet women are next to zero except for online dating . I could go to church and meet a woman but most churchy women are too uptight for my tastes. Btw I was mostly joking about the religious stuff above.lol
