quote: I like chivalry. I don't need a man opening a door and I'm not the ultra-effeminate type who needs a man to forego his seat - but I think it's decent that he offer. I do appreciate a "gentleman". Not too much of one though. That would be too boring. Gentlemanly to the point of passivity is just not acceptable. Gentlemanly to a platonic degree is also not acceptable. He has to have the balls to make his move.
Oh offcourse that is a given PA. Balance in everything remember? However given the circumstances in modern society, it has gotten to a point where people in general don't bother showing small gentures of mannerism and chivilry in common situations. I would undoubtably vacate my seat for a lady if I see her overburdened with bags and goods. IP: Logged |

My husband wouldn't sit down on a train or bus seat if I was standing up. He just wouldn't. I'm not pushing for him to change. I agree with Xiodian on this, it's just a bit of old-fashioned manners. When I was pregnant with my first child and riding up and down the tube each day, plenty of people offered me a seat, plenty more just watched me standing whilst they sat on their butts. One man elbowed me in the stomach in his rush to get out to his stop first. I was alright of course, the result is sitting eating Weetabix watching Disney Channel. IP: Logged |

" One man elbowed me in the stomach in his rush to get out to his stop first...." Good grief That's just terrible behavior. BM, your husband sounds like a real gentleman, btw. Good manners, I find that very important. Xodian...lookin' slick there, very nice IP: Logged |

Unfortunately, there is a lot of it about. Once, again on the tube, I overheard a woman saying quietly to her elderly mother: don't worry, I'm sure someone will stand up for you at the next stop. I thought: you'll be lucky. If I had had a seat I would have offered it, but there was a row of young and fit men sitting down with their crotches hanging out on display. Not my idea of men, sorry. Stand up for elderly people so they can rest their legs, it's basic, really. It's not even a gender issue. The inability to say please and thank you to people in shops also annoys me quite considerably. There's no need to bark out orders when you go to buy a loaf of bread, it's possible to ask politely. It shouldn't be a rare thing, but apparently, at large number of people are incapable of this basic nicety. IP: Logged |

Yuck, Blue Moon!! I remember being 21 and using public transport frequently and glaring at people who never offered their seat when anyone was pregnant or elderly, or just has their hands full. I was always appalled at how many didn't. It's such a basic thing, too bad you can't drill it into heads from day one! My grandmother, bless her, called it something along the lines of 'bad breeding' IP: Logged |

PA, let me educate you in the Australian foreplay way. 1. Go to bed and switch off light. 2. Lie still in the dark for 5 minutes. 3. Tap your partner on the shoulder and say "Roll over". Thanks for the koi bait - very very nice!!!! Beautiful cheek line IP: Logged |

PAI have been analyzing the teacher wondering what his astro sign could be.... 1. He is very much a decision maker & isn't afraid to give orders so I'm thinking cardinal, which leave Aries, Cancer, Libra & Capricorn.
2. Physically he has a baby face so I'm thinking one of the younger signs Aries or Cancer. (he is very caring re animals children & especially their emotional welfare) School photo's are coming up next month.... Will send a class pic via email when I get them so you can check him out yourself *EDIT* After last Friday's interaction (*spunky's eyebrows still upon high*) Teacher oh so casually tells me that it's safe for my boy to cross the school car park (even though it's against school rules) because HE'S watching my boy. All this done in casual confidence..... And every time this type of conversation happens between us I seem to lose my power of speech! WTF is that about PA? I am a Sag moon who is never & I mean never short of something to say or someone to say it too. oi...I think I need a bex & a lie down lol. IP: Logged |

That's NOTHING like Australian foreplay. Aussie foreplay goes something like this: "Wanna **** ?" It's not so much a question, either.

spunkyLook forward to the pic. I think you'll find that most teachers, given some wearing down of tolerance levels over the years, are good at giving orders. Baby face speaks Gemini or Mercurial influences to me. Have to see pics. Have to wait then. IP: Logged |

bmGreat to see you back. I've witnessed the same. Heavily pregnant women standing on the train, whilst the men hide behind their newspapers. I always vacate my seat for pregnant women or elderly people. Someone vacating their seat for someone more in need has nothing to do with chivalry, it's just decency. Back to chivalry. If a man went to open a door for me, I think I'd laugh at him. I mean, I am actually capable of doing that myself. Do something for me that I can't do for myself - or undo for myself as just turned out - a Freudian slip typo. It happens. Or even better - do something for me that I really don't want to do - like some housework or change that lightbulb because you're taller and I can't reach even when standing on a chair. Yes, chivalry. It doesn't require a steed. Or a supercar. Just some thoughtfulness. IP: Logged |
