Sad . Such a global disaster. Are you taking or going to take Iodine supplements?

I just finished a 9 hour online ( dial up time) Basic Driver Course. So darn boring and cost $60. 88% score is worse than I expected, crap!

I`m going to be doing some city driving this summer plus it will reduce my Insurance rates.

I should. Read a tweet this morning suggesting kelp for its iodine content.

Sunchild has some good info in H&H on it.

I am thinking the Potassium Iodine may be a good thing to have on hand anyhow.....

I should look at my vitamins to see if any of them already have iodine. I just started taking Potassium supplements under the recommendation of 4-Hour Body.

I already take thyroid meds (underactive) so I thought it wise to look into.
Does just potassium or just Iodine count or is it a specific combo in one pill?

I just got a convenience store pack of vitamins that contains iodine. Probably too extreme a measure on my part.

I'm not sure what the answer to your question is. Here's a wikipedia article on it:

NutritionThe major uses of KI include use as a nutritional supplement in animal feeds and also the human diet. For the latter, it is the most common additive used to "iodize" table salt (a public health measure to prevent iodine deficiency in populations which get little seafood). The oxidation of iodide causes slow loss of iodine content from iodised salts that are exposed to excess air. The alkali metal iodide salt, over time and exposure to excess oxygen and carbon dioxide, slowly oxidizes to metal carbonate and elemental iodine, which then evaporates.[14] Potassium iodate is used to add iodine to some salts so that the iodine is not lost by oxidation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potassium_iodide

Looks like the Potassium iodate is the more stable and effect instead of the seperate doses.

I know I read table salt is usless in radiation cases. But you won`t get a goiter with regular use

Mi has 6 nuclear power plants and I found this on the States web site:

• Michigan's Potassium Iodide (KI) Program
The Michigan Department of Community Health will be providing free potassium iodide (KI) to residents living or working within 10 miles of one of Michigan's nuclear power plants. The KI tablets are free for residents. The tablets should be kept with the family's emergency preparedness kit in case of an emergency at a nuclear power plant.

So that`s the product to use.

Yeah, I guess so!

Six plants? Isn't that a lot?

Well, I sure think so. There`s 2 at 3 different sights. Detroit, South Haven and Bridgeman. All 3 about 250 miles South of me. Too darn close

I thought that, being such great electricity conductors, it wouldn't require so many. I don't like it.

My roommate's brother, who was born the day after me, suggested the other day that in order to have nuclear power plants, the cores should be installed in rockets. That way, in case of emergency, we could just blast them off to outer space and save ourselves. I like that idea.

ALL nuclear plants are a danger to the population. I feel in MI with 3 and CA with 2, that my chances of earthquake related disasters are smaller with the New Madrid fault line that CA`s two biggies.

CA

"Two fault lines straddle Diablo Canyon. The Hosgri fault to the west and the San Andreas to the East."

MI

"The 150-mile (240 km) long fault system, which extends into five states, stretches southward from Cairo, Illinois; through Hayti, Caruthersville and New Madrid in Missouri; through Blytheville into Marked Tree in Arkansas. It also covers a part of West Tennessee, near Reelfoot Lake, extending southeast into Dyersburg."

I don`t believe there is truely a safe place to live, so let us enjoy life to it`s fullest and carry on!!

Tonight I've got an improv show to be in.

Also, the MegaMillions lottery is at $201 million dollars. I run the pool at work. I'm thinking about announcing my show in my lottery email.

This is also supposed to be the start of a 10 day rain storm for us. I think I heard that it could be 2" per hour at some points.

The first song to play on my Pandora station this morning is Madness's "The Communicator". I think that bodes well for today.

Some cool stuff for you to read while LL is boring:

A guy implants a computer chip in his own arm, connects it to his nervous system, and as one of the experiments learns to use a makeshift sonar that tells him how far an object is from that arm even while blindfolded: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,2050030,00.html

The Hindu holiday of Holi is upon us tomorrow. What do they do? Throw color at one another. Sounds very cool. http://www.yolocolorhouse.com/blog/2011/03/15/holi-color-by-lo/

Good morning!

Busy weekend. Friday I had my show. I feel a little unusual about it. It was strange in that I didn't walk away with an impression of it. I did pretty well I think. No real highs or lows, though. No rush either. It's strange for me to feel indifferent about it.

After the show we had a party at Dr. Rob's house. I drank, but didn't get drunk. Still, I stayed over rather than trusting someone to take me home.

Saturday night I went to another improv show starring my old cast mates. They did better than I expected. I don't typically find them very funny, but it looks like they're upping their game. Afterwards went to the Cheesecake Factory. Rob tried to keep the party going with movie night at someone's house, but I wasn't up for it.

Yesterday I saw two movies at the theater. I saw Limitless, which I strangely hadn't ever heard of. It was quite rivetting. Later I saw Take Me Home Tonight. I'm a sucker for movies that take place in the '80s. Not great, but not bad.

This is weird, but I dreamed of your improv show. Weirder still is that you looked like you, but talked like Alan Rickman as Professor Snape.

What did you drink?

LOL...I think it's funny.

I don't think I sound like him, though given some time to practice maybe I could eventually mimic him.

Yay the sun is out! Yay!! It snowed again last night, and is to snow on Thursday as well. Gotta love NE winters! They never seem to want to end!

I think I dreamed of it because I saw it on your FB and had been watching Harry Potter on TV as well. What a strange combination, though!

My nose started running like crazy yesterday, and I'm still dealing with it. Didn't sleep great last night. Not excited to be going to work on this chilly, rainy day.
