Hey Pixie In hidnsight, a complete new computer would have been the better way to go. With AG`s info, I may have to anyhow. http://windows.microsoft.com/systemrequirements •1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor •1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit) •16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit) •DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver Mostly, it has to be fast enough, and it has to have enough of the easily-accessible temporary memory (RAM). So, you have a fast enough machine with enough RAM? That's good. If you've recently changed your hard drive, chances are you have 16 gb available. Your new drive was probably over 50 gb, right? Here's directions on figuring out what version of DirectX you have: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071008164115AAejRaz Or you could go to Microsoft directly, and download the updater to DirectX 9 or any previous version: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en IP: Logged |

Today Windows 7 arrived... kinda excited but have to wait on my computer guy. He has a new love so he`s not as Johnny on the spot as he was. But, I feel positive this by week end I will be up & running. I shopped for a new Jeep Liberty Renegade today. Nice , no very nice vehicle. It`s black and has an off road package. I`m not happy with the trade in offer on my Tracker but all the other perks are good enough to grab up. So AG, what was sharable on your stellar week end What is this, the whole world has fallen in love ------------------ Christian, Jew, Muslim, Shaman, Zoroastrian, stone, ground, mountain, river, each has a secret way of being with the Mystery, unique and not to be judged. Just about everything was shareable, and I had gotten through the end of Saturday yesterday when suddenly two or three paragraphs disappeared. I just didn't feel like retyping it yesterday. I'll try to do it over the course of today. It's very busy at work today.IP: Logged |

So Friday I was picked up by Jen, and we headed to Berkeley to see a movie about Conan O'Brian called Conan Can't Stop. This theater has been upgraded with nice, wide leather seats, and it was a pretty cool experience. We're going to have to go back sometime, and try out the theater with the loveseat-style seating. Then we went to Jupiter. We had pizza, and a salad for dinner. Then, on the way back to the car, we saw an interesting looking place called Bec's. They had a little three piece band playing. We decided to see if there was space for us. It was a cool little pub/restaurant, and the band was great. On the way home Jen's phone spontaneously broke. IP: Logged |

Saturday morning, breakfast at IHOP, then on to the Sprint store to figure out what's happened with the phone. On the way into the shopping center a mattress store is noted. We've been talking about getting a new one.We went into Sprint, and they were a bit unhelpful. They told us that she was a week away from upgrade eligibility. They didn't know what to do with her phone, but suggested that their tech could look at it. They also asked if we had an old phone they could activate while she waits the week. I had an old phone, so we went and got that, and returned. Then instead of activating the old phone they suggested leaving the phone for the tech to look at. We went with that. Then, since we had time before our mani/pedi (my first), we decided to check out the mattress store. Inside we met a one of those people that seems to good for his job. Our salesman was young and sharp, and guided us through the mattress testing in search of the perfect mattress. We actually chose one! So exciting. So excited! Tempurpedic here we come. It arrives Friday. (We also got some unique ergonomic pillows.) Then we went to our mani/pedi, but we were an hour late. Not having Jen's phone calendar screwed us up. We had to reschedule. So we went back to Sprint. The tech had looked at Jen's phone, and instructed his people to just give her a new one. Just like that. He couldn't get it to work either, and I guess this was his solution. That was very cool, and that was only the first thing comp'ed that day. Then back to the mani/pedi. Probably pretty standard fare there. My feet were very ticklish. The women there, and my girlfriend thought painting my toenails would be cute...so I let them. They're now themed for the 4th. After that I wanted to eat someplace outside, so we headed to downtown Pleasanton where there are a number of restaurants that fit the bill. I wanted to try something new, and settled on Redcoats British Pub and Restaurant. Our waitress forgot to put our orders in after taking them (she noticed that our food should be done, and was wondering where it was), so she apologized, and comp'ed us our dessert. I had grilled cod with mashed potatoes and veggies. Jen had a Tri-tip caesar salad. Good stuff. There was no music outside, so I played some quietly using my phone. That was it for Saturday.

Sunday:Sunday had a bit of a slow start. We eventually had breakfast, and headed out to the city. We had scheduled an hour and a half sailing cruise with San Francisco Sailing Company. I originally bought the cruise on Groupon, though I remembered about scheduling it on the last day I could do so. We ended up having to pay a little extra for the poor planning. It was my first time sailing. I've been on all kinds of boats in my life, but never sailing. Jen supposed our Captain was from the former Ukraine. He was a funny, earthy man. He told us where the life jackets were, but explained that we wouldn't have to wear them as long as we committed one hand to holding on --our other hand being free to hold our drink (cruise came with two drinks; we had white wine). The cruise, I suppose, was somwhat unremarkable. We took a different cruise recently on a three level boat that allowed for easier views. The sailing turned out to be more about the experience. The weather was actually more pleasant than anticipated, and we enjoyed the sun and the salt water spray. When we got done we saw a wine and cheese tasting place on the pier, so we went there for a snack. Jen contacted a law-school buddy who was in town to figure out a way to meet up. We later met them at an Indian restaurant called Ashoka. I'm not the most familiar with Indian food, and I've had mixed results in my minor forrays into it. This place was quite good, though. We all ordered, but we ate it family style, so every dish was shared. Everything I ate was good, and I tried it all. That was cool. Jen's friend (and his girlfriend) were cool as well. It was getting dark as we left (sunset was at 8:30 that night). Thus concludes my weekend. IP: Logged |

That's awesome! I love the look of Jeep Liberties myself. Perfect-sized car, and, of course, the model name is great for freedom-loving people. What color is it? I like white the best I think. IP: Logged |

LL still hasn't really regained its lost luster (particularly when a Conservative believes himself able to argue the Republican position on the debt, which I think is absolutely untenable as well as a huge risk for their party).Things are going well, though. Saturday Jen and I visited a beautiful mountain cabin in Aptos where we met her friend to throw clay! It's surprisingly difficult getting it set up on the wheel at first, but I made a couple bowls from clay she'd set up for me. That was really cool. I'm looking forward to glazing them. IP: Logged |

Hmmm, a Cappy is capable of adding sparkly luster and beefing things up... if s/he wished that is I don`t like throwing clay. Our host was helped into an educational position by Jen when Jen was on the school board. She's like the director of ROP or something, and I'm not real certain what that is. She was very supportive of whatever we did. You'd probably have enjoyed her. She tried to set us up, and get out of our way. When it was clear that I was having issues getting to a point where I had my clay centered properly she just did it for me, so I could play. We weren't using beginner's clay, so I guess difficulties were sure to occur. Jen really wanted to do freeform sculpture more, and that wasn't a problem. If we'd had more time, we probably could've played more with the tools they had for that. There was a flattener, and a machine that could extrude different shapes.IP: Logged |

It's going pretty decently I'd say. We're going to go watch Billy Elliot tomorrow night. Should be fun.How are things where you are? Hot? Weather here has been odd all summer. We've finally settled into some mild warmth. We haven't had any scathingly hot days at all this summer. IP: Logged |

My (little) brother works for a non-profit anti-domestic-violence type outfit. Today he posted on Facebook that I'm the only person to ever support his organization through Facebook. I'm a bit stunned. That was like half a year ago.Now he's using his upcoming birthday as a fundraiser for his employer. http://wishes.causes.com/wishes/345102?bws=fb_event_description IP: Logged |
