I think most of the K.S. people were like you (Eleanore) with regards to friends. There were a few people who expressed an extreme sensitivity towards people, though. This was another issue where I didn't care enough to do anything about it. If people wanted to be reclusive that was fine by a lot of us. As I posted earlier from Lia, there were misgivings about being exclusive, but the misgivings were tempered with acceptance of those who did want to be exclusive.

I've been trying to convey that the site was born of huge arguments here. Not as a place to escape to bad-mouth people, but rather a place to escape to be a part of a forum that's not going through some big drama. I never took a break from coming to LL as a result of starting that forum. I don't need that kind of refuge. Some people did, though, and I was happy to provide it.

As for what you were doing personally at KS, I haven't a clue...except what you've said and with no proof to the contrary, I wouldn't dispute your word.

My point and I think others point as well, is that some did engage in name calling at KS in a way which prevented those being ripped from answering back...behind their backs, which is both petty and cowardly.

I would never suggest someone doesn't have a right to defend themselves against slanders, slurs and libelous speech, here or anywhere else.

Nor is starting another site for friendship or most any other reason a cause for alarm or disgust. It's what happens there..things which affect others not associated there which can and proved to be a problem.

How could anyone associated with that site gloss over the fact Magus believed his rant againt TINK was acceptable or would be accepted there? Well, it was.

I posted on that site, and I did not see that rant.
Just as I post on this site, and don't see everything here.
Surely you don't go into the poetry section here or free for all too much.. you mostly post here in GU. I'm sure you can understand that.
He has apologized for those harsh words, I know i'd appreciate learning about it, if someone had said that about me. I am happy he apologized.
If I had come across it, he knows I wouldn't have said anything but a thumbsdown. I certainly don't feel the same, nor did he I'll bet,if he gave it any rational thought.... just voiced it like he has done many times. An agry, heat of the moment rant, as he has said. It's just him.. he's responsible for his own words, as I am responsible to my own as well.

I have never disrespected LL or anyone from it, nor have I stopped posting here, or stopped anything, it was a place I'd visit from time to time, as I do here... with more frequency. No disrespect.

I should say.. yes, I did disrespect Lotus there..... but I did it here as well, no talking behind backs.
I simply don't do that. I didn't there, I don't here.
Simple.
I don't know how many times it can be outlined from different members of that forum.. IT WASN'T LIKE THAT!!!!!

I do Not approve of Magus' more caustic crude Public rants. I have told him before both publicaly and privately to tone it down at open forums. But he will not usually listen to me either. I really wish he would try to be more tactful...his opinions would have more impact if he could forego the cruderies of speech. In private I do not give a flying fig how he expresses himself. But I have lectured him up to and including the point where I suspect he thinks I am a prude and acting like a mom.
He is not always crude. I wish he would let folks see his other side. He has one. It is very nice.
So no Jwhop..I did not think that TINK thing was nice at all. I also do not remember it being that bad. Maybe he changed it. Maybe someone here added to it. I do not know for sure. But at the time I think Magus was getting sick of my telling him he needed to tone things down.
This was one of my LL posts awhile ago concerning Magus overdoing things.
There are many others.

Magus does get very wound up and brutally blunt and yes..rather crude and rude sounding. I agree with you on that!
BUT....
Consider what insulting verbage he is responding to....
I do not think he means to be so brash...but he is being honest and responding with an eye for an eye. And he does defend in from his heart. It is his way to just say what is on his mind without holding back. Personally I appreciate that. But I do see how it would be a dangerous thing if this was the way everyone acted...especially in response to angry outbursts and stupidity.

This is not a good thing for public discourse. It does not make you appear strong and noble except to those who understand you and the motives and heart behind your intensity!
Magus...you will only bring down more outrage to your well meant words...but very blunt..and rashly brash words...

Even you have admitted that you are usually totally unconcerned about restraint in your words and your open expressings of them.

And while we who love and understand you will remain your loyal friends..others will not stop seeing you.. as not a man of pure hearted honor... but a brute and often yes..very charming rogue.

Talk freely yes! But try to hold back on sounding so threatening and vengeful to people who are obviously acting immature and foolish and are going out of their way to yank your chain.

I know there is a chance that you may get upset with me here. I hope you do not..but instead see what I am saying and understand why. But I do not like seeing you bring more anger and chidings upon yourself.

I do not agree with him completely... for I know that your intent and intentions to defend were honorably meant!!!

I would prefer your tongue be sharp...but at certain places and times...with certain folks...and showing your anger and disgust in too raw a fashion undermines the results you may actually be trying to achieve.
Even in your defending..do not go too far because the person making the nasty remarks will just try to outdo you in that arena and it will end up becoming a foul mouthed vile exchange of force of wills and one up manship to bring the other down or put them in their place...
But no one is the victor there my friend.
In the end you both lose. They have their friends...
And You have yours...
And after expending so much energy in the battle of wills...
The only thing that is stronger is the gulf between them and a deeper hatred and disgust of the other.

I am so freaking tired of all this craziness!
I am trying my damndest to be diplomatic...but all over LL. there has been such nonsense going on.
Yes...Magus...I too get angry and lose my tongue too. We both need to learn when the battle is never going to be won and pull back.
Respond with nothing but a thumbs down..or a frown...or whatever icon/smilie...and leave it at that if you can.

The thing that bothered me and most (im assuming)was talking about others behind their backs(good,bad,whatever) and if you didnt say anything negative...you guys didnt stop it...you let it ensue, discrimating/excluding people...

I like most of the people from the KS club, i dont think theyre negative people...
i agree with most of their politics/insights, but i disagree with the stuff i read....

anyways

PRIVATE e mails were sent to the individuals being discussed outlining the unacceptable factors. They most assuredly had the option to respond. ALL did, either in private or public. Either choice a personal option.
