Just popping in here and then headed to LLC2. Was hoping it calmed down in this forum a bit.

Nominate hannaramaa .. As she is involved in the forums but not too involved, astrology focused yet amiable and seems level and fair to me.

I wish all the mods would post their charts up in a thread too for that thing astrology does to help understand differences and synastries.

I suggested privately, that one of the new forums be a password-protected forum in which people could work out their disagreements, so that it wouldn't spill over everywhere else. You'd have a corner to take it to. People obviously need a place in which they can get it all out, and just deal with each other, with no threat of closed threads.

I think that's a fantastic idea. ^ ^ ^

I think this would be a terrible idea, no offense to you, Teasel. It would make for much more dissension and hostility, let alone figuring out who would go in with whom.

If people want to talk, they can e mail or go on FB but for this to come under the domain of LL sounds awful, to me.

Yeah I agree here. Teasel I think your idea has great intentions, especially since it does get frustrating seeing quality posts locked. But the problem here is that a forum like that would get very ugly, very quickly. It might also cause an us vs them mentality, which is never good.

The thing is that that mentality is already there, all over the forum. It needs to be contained somehow. I said password-protected, so that only the people involved would have access. It would have to be moderated, too, but really - it's all over the place, and it is tiring.

Teasel,

I think it is a good idea generally speaking.

But at the same time I doubt that it would stay in the closed areas.

Well, whether hosted here or somewhere else like in email or something, people should try to get out their feelings instead of bottling it up. It just tends to have a bit of a direction with a third party around, unless two adults are willing to consent that they really are committed to finding a true median between themselves, or are given to fighting.

Randall has a safety feature in that Mods ( or he)will close threads when there is blood shed. I was on a Forum for a year with no moderation and so it could get MUCH worse.

No one here is allowed to be bullied, humiliated or eviscerated. That goes to who Randall is and how he chooses to run this community.

Some people will never get along and so that has to be taken into account, as best as possible, with the safeguards that are in place.

Thanks, Ceri.

I was thinking that if a thread started to go off in that direction, they could take it to a thread already going in the private area.

I said that it should have moderation, but the discussion has to happen somewhere, instead of taking over *everything*.

There would be no competition if it happened in a private forum. It's all the time, almost every day, in various forums. This forum, just like GU, and occasionally Astrology, seems to be mainly built on contention, with kindness and good humour managing to grow in and around it, anyway (thank goodness).

I don't want to see my friends banned. I'm going to post a link to sunchild's forum, in another thread, so that people can sign up and PM each other private contact information, should they care to - just in case. It isn't a bid to drive new membership - I haven't been there for a month or two - just so that people can find another way to talk.

I didn't mean to be dismissive, Teasel.

It's just that you don't want a subversive basis for your Foundation.

Like your Saturn Return, you want a good solid base to anything you build.

That would encourage the tower of babel syndrome, if you ask me.

Completely agree. I really admire your concern Teasel, and believe me, I want to address this issue as well. The problem that Ceridwen is getting at is that we can keep the words and mudslinging in a private forum, but we can't lock in emotions and feelings. After some point the exchanges will leak their way onto the site.

For example. lets say Jim Bob and I get into an heated exchange here on whether teal or orange is a better color (obviously teal! lol) and it is decided we need to go into the private forum. We air out our differences and then assume 'it is over,' However, hours later we are both in a heated thread, and the 'your mom smells' and 'well, you are just dumb' from the private forum jump out again. The previous feelings and emotions come out, and we are back at stage 1 again.

I really think we should keep this conversation going, so Teasel if you have any more ideas, please share them.

Teasel, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you mean well, but SC came on here accusing me of hacking her e-mail.
