I like both PJ and Hannarama as mod options!
But I still think Violets would be best because she is very calm and often 'the voice of reason'  Thank you for the nice things you said Violets  I do have a thick skin but I know I take sides sometimes when I get involved in an argument - and that's not a very good idea when you're a mod. Teasel - I like the idea in theory, but I'm worried that in practice many people don't 'resolve' arguments at all.
Even if they had a mediation forum - it's likely that they would just keep arguing... or temporarily sort things out, only to later flare up again. Some members have long standing animosity.. and it doesn't seem to be dying down.
I'm not sure that having a forum like that - would improve the vibe overall. quote:

7th Guardian, people often come here with serious personal issues, and are not always capable of conducting themselves appropriately.It's also a very tight-knit community, obviously. So it could be quite damaging, I would imagine, if someone's personal information were divulged publicly here. From what I can gather (I'm repeating myself, I'm aware), there have been some significant issues in the past here with people messaging each other, and apparently creating even more drama than would normally be present. Thus I can fully comprehend why Randall has chosen not to utilize the personal messaging option. I have no idea what took place, and in all honesty I absolutely have no investment in knowing about it. Obviously, I can't speak for Randall.
But I've had these thoughts already, and these are the conclusions I've come to. IP: Logged |

1. ..should tempers flare and arguments ensue, they should not join in the fray [I would add in baiting/flaming the fire as well] but instead put on their Mod hats at that time and guide the discussion back on track, if possible. If not, then they should lock the thread (or lock it if it has gone too far to be put back on track or is leaning toward that point, ie. a preemptive lock). The Mods' discretion shall always be honored by Randall.8. Friendships and bonds will form, but when fights break out, Mods must be able to remain impartial and put the well-being of Lindaland first. Question: how will these be monitored/addressed? I feel these are way bigger concerns at the moment than mod vs mod. I really feel if these are addressed strongly, the frequency of thread locking will decrease significantly. Yes, of course we need to have mods engage with each other respectfully, but it is not the reason threads keep getting locked. The mod vs mod develops because of the two scenarios above. IP: Logged |
