ABC, To me it's really just a matter of delivery. On a forum there are no audible or facial cues, so you have to find other ways to help people understand what you mean. I use the smileys. If I wanted people to know that I was making a pun like you did, I'd add a winking smile , or a laughing smile , or a big grin . Other people, including other Scorps around here, use further words to ensure that they're understood. Dry is cool with me. I'm a Capricorn, and we're known for our dry humor. Also, you don't need to be so hard on yourself. You're not offensive at all. IP: Logged |

Gypsee,I'm with you. If I'm late or something it's on me. If something happens, and I don't get up on time for work, so be it. To me, that is preferable to people waking me up when I intend to stay in bed. I was thinking about it today, and I feel weird about waking other people up generally. I think maybe waking up cranky parents may have taught me not to do it, or something. But now that I know that she's cool with whatever means are necessary, I'll do it. IP: Logged |

I wonder that I, a water ox, do not get along with snakes, who are my 'perfect' partners in Chinese astrology. I just found out that I was born in the hour of the boar/pig, and they are like among the worst matches for Snake. Soooo, it's kind of weird. My ex was a water rat (I suppose he still is LOL), and another ex was a rabbit (they're so sweet), but I also really like horses, even though I am not meant to 'get along' with them. Maybe the hours we were born really effect the supposed 'sign' we have. To top it off, I think the whole Chinese astro thing with oxen hating change is sooo wrong. I thrive on it. What the hell! Why can't anyone get it right The more I study, the more I'm inclined to toss that knowledge out the window after I learn it. IP: Logged |

I'm Friday...or rather IT's Friday, so I'm good! Strange thing happened this morning, though, and this is absolutely true: I didn't set my alarm last night. I woke up when my roommate woke me up at 6:15. So we are in some sort of alarm clock "Bermuda triangle" as my roommate put it. Apparently her alarm didn't go off this morning as well, though [remarkably] she managed to wake up anyhow. IP: Logged |

A Friday is a Good Day. Well, it is Saturday here so even better, but closer to Monday than you are. Nobody wakes me up if they know what's good for them. No one! I lose it! I really do. I slept at around 8am in the morning yesterday and the cleaning lady came in and started yakking on her cellphone or something, on top of having the tv blaring on top volume. I don't know what came over her! But she, of all people, knows that I lose it when woken up because sleep is so precious to me. It was fine when it was still the tv hum noise, but when she started speaking louder, it woke me up, so... I got up, took a deep breath, stormed to the bedroom door, opened it violently and banged it on my way out. She heard it because the yakking stopped for a little while as I walked to her. Then, instead of doing what I was going to do, which was to ask her in a seething tone, "Do you really have to speak that loudly. I am sleeping" I just walked by her not knowing where I was heading to an ended up outside and sat on the paving against the wall outside, legs close to me and knees to my chin, with my hands rapped around the top of my knees and fell asleep outside in the weak winter sun. I dunno how long I was outside, but I woke up from the nap and just sat outside looking at birds flying across the sky. Then I went back inside, still p!$$ed but calmer. I didn't speak to her then she left only to realize that her stupid noise made me sleep for 2 hours today! Aaaarrrg! So, I do not deal well with people who wake me up prematurely. I go crazy, as you can see! Today it drove me to sleep outside because inside was a disco! IP: Logged |

Unmoved, your reaction sounds disturbingly similar to what mine would've been... right down to curling up outside, randomly, and falling asleep It's so weird to read your post, I was like, Hey, I could've written that LOL!!I don't deal well with being woken up at all either. I've gotten better... I used to be a complete nightmare, actually. When I was in my teens, my phone would ring and I'd supposedly pick it up and unleash a string of insults at whoever was on the other line(while asleep)... I didn't know until a friend told me LOL I don't that anymore, I swear And when my alarm would go off, I'd throw it across the room... I HATE alarms in general. Hearing them, even if I'm awake, makes me really upset. I'm so sensitive to noise it's ridiculous. I'm wondering if it's a 12th house moon thing... sudden, loud noise feels like an assault! MVM~ quote: Unmoved, your reaction sounds disturbingly similar to what mine would've been...
I've said the exact thing about you and your responses on LL, remember? It's actually very freaky sometimes. I think it's fine to find people who have similar personalities to oneself, but you take it on some other level with experiences at times. I think you've seen that I'm always like, "I agree with MVM" Ag! You must be thinking... this woman!!?? Wtf? Always agreeing with me. hehehe... not always but most of the time and I seldom agree with many. It means you're weird MVM, because I am strange. hahaha If you're similar to me (visa versa), you're similar to eve too. Hehehe. AG must like them off or something because I am always interested in what AG says, and I just like AG, and so do you. I can tell. I seldom, I mean SELDOM find a person to say something I don't know, which I am interested in, and AG has a choc-ful of good trivia, useful info and I dig his style as it is not pretentious or self-seeking. I'm not surprised that I am always on this thread, my watering hole. Yeah, AG. You're smart without effort. There's nothing that gets under my skin as much as people trying to be smart. So, you're refreshing because you just ARE smart, and natural. I also like that you're not into BS. MVM doesn't like BS too, and that's probably why she enjoys you too. AG appreciation day! Yay!!! Unmoved, I'm flattered! The 'trivia' part really threw me. I tend to associate trivia with games or something, and most of it is genuinely useless. I'm not offended, though. I get it. I do my share of picking up on information. I do like them off. Strange people are more interesting. They illustrate that they're willing to go against convention, and have their own minds. The aspect that makes my Saturn opposite Mercury easier is Uranus in Libra. It trines Saturn and sextiles Mercury. That could account for some enjoyment of the strange. IP: Logged |

yeah, I meant trivia in a sense of this scenario:There are a bunch of people trying to remember a certain odd fact, but everyone's forgotten or too lazy to google it. Then comes AG with an answer, leaving all those involved saying, "Oh yeah... it was at the tip of my tongue..." type of thing. And, flattery was not the primary purpose AG. I was just being honest. Ok, let me go terrorize other people now. lol IP: Logged |

No it's not mine, but I could probably contribute to it. It was just the first website I could think of.Everybody is strange these days... except the people who want to be strange... which is about half of everybody. Wait what did I just say? IP: Logged |

"Ok, let me go terrorize other people now..." ...I find myself agreeing with you an odd amount of time too, Unmoved! It's so nice though, I love it (Hmmm, is that my ego going, OH WOW, SHE'S SO SMART! ... because she thinks like I do ) But I always recognize genius AG's all about NO BS, which is why he's awesome ...so yes, a Happy AG Appreciation Day IP: Logged |

I just refreshed my mp3 player with some new material: Books
- The Old Man and the Sea - Ernest Hemingway
- The Tipping Point - Malcolm Gladwell
The Tipping Point seems to be in the same vein of books I've previously enjoyed like Freakonomics and Blunder. The one will focus on the causes behind sudden trends. I'm still trying to figure out how to pick good fiction, and lately I've come to realize that I really have to listen to the samples, because some of the narrators are just too obnoxious for me. I feel like I can hear it if they're working too hard at it, and it annoys me. If they are focused on diction, the reading becomes too stark and dry. If they're focused on drama, and they're unpracticed, it comes off pretentious. I realize that these people have to perfect their craft somehow, but it really affects my experience if they suck. Incidentally, Donald Sutherland is the narrator for Hemingway's book. That's a slam dunk. Music
- Four songs off Radiohead's Pablo Honey
- A couple David Bowie tunes I'm not familiar with
- A couple new purchases from Cake
- Maggie May
I thought that I would find that plenty of people had covered Rod Stewart's Maggie May, and probably done a decent job of it. I'm against Rod Stewart by nature. There were some cover versions, but the amazon.com samples weren't enough to show me that they were superior to RS's...so I got Rod Stewart's. But then I went in search of the guy who made me a fan of the song, Ty Taylor, a contestant on the first Rockstar series (INXS). He f-n' rocked that song. Someone did make an mp3, and I found it and downloaded it. There's a glitch in the first moments of the song, but otherwise it sounds good. Now...do I finally go see The Hangover, or do I go searching for some new walking shoes? One of my movie watching friends said that she really didn't find The Hangover funny despite [her words] "everybody in the world" liking it. Maybe I should jump in the pool for a minute...but then, I've barely eaten today, and I'm getting hungry. Decisions IP: Logged |

I saw the Hangover. I wasn't impressed. I like low-brow humor generally, if it's well done... this was kinda half-ass. But it did have its moments And so far I know of 4 people who didn't think much of it (including myself). Blah blah blah, sleeper hit !

ABC, That could be. I saw her song when I was looking through the Maggie May's.Good to hear, MVM. MM generally has pretty good taste in movies, and she was the one who was disappointed with it. I'll probably find something else to do altogether. IP: Logged |

It's AG Appreciation Day?? Good-O, making my mark 'here' ___X___ I've been on a camping trip this week, and *ohsoglad* to get back to things that require electricity Belated thanks for the info on webwidgets, although I believe I'm still quite technologically un-confident about my incomplete understanding How's your dad doing this week, AG?? btw, kudos for your response to someone a few pages ago -- I'm prone to calling such actions "blanketing the forums like smog" IP: Logged | |
