Two things:1. John is the best normal western male's name (in my opinion). You really can't go wrong with it. 2. New Taurus celeb crush: Stana Katic from the show Castle. IP: Logged |

But very unlike Kim and Jason in that people in generations before ours used the name. That's part of what makes it awesome. It's stood the test of time without getting too varnished.IP: Logged |

LOL! AG, we have alot of John's in our fam. The joke is that it's either someone who pays a prostitute or something you go to the bathroom on, LOL.And, wow, I was just thinking of making a thread about what we each think we should of been named. You know like some Indian tribles let their children name themselves when they are old enough. There was a book put out in the 80's called 'Beyond Jennifer and Jason,' because those two names held the record for a decade as top boy and girl names in the 70's. I have a brother named Jason, and a sister in law named Jennifer, and know tons of both. Names being so cyclical though...It's tough naming a kid. They go from the bizarre, back to the biblical, to "old lady names," etc. I thought I was being very original in naming my children. During my daughters graduation, there were 8 Amanda's, and 3 of them were Amanda Maries!!! I'de never heard of anyone called Amanda when I chose it. I chose it from the Boston song. Ya just can't win. One rule of thumb when naming a child, try saying it over and over a thousand times. Then yell it over and over at the top of your lungs, cause that is exactly how it will be in real life!! IP: Logged |

You should do that thread! I'm thinking that a lot of people must think about it. I think I'd name myself something a little exotic to balance out my last name. Either I'd do something complimentary (which is likely) like Anton, or I'd do a headscratcher like Carlos or Guillermo. That would give my name a real international flavor. Of course if I were just trying to be a normal American I'd probably go for John or Jonathon.IP: Logged |

ahhh Gypsee.. I LOVE it! quote: One rule of thumb when naming a child, try saying it over and over a thousand times. Then yell it over and over at the top of your lungs, cause that is exactly how it will be in real life!!
Seems like we spend the first two years with our kids teaching them to walk and talk and the rest of their lives telling them to shut up and sit down! I always hated my name because it is so common. I remember going to school and someone behind me would shout Kim or Kimmie and I'd turn around... 9 times out of 10 it would be someone else. So I wanted something different naming my daughter Caitlyn. I had read an article in Reader's Digest while I was pregnant about a baby born 25 weeks in gestation and how it survived. The baby's name was Caitlyn. I hadn't heard of the name before and thought it was beautiful. I swear that before the year was up, they were everywhere. Different spellings, but same name. Gypsee... my neice is Amanda lol. And the guy who works in the desk next to me is Jason :-D

(To the Virgo sitting behind me: )I feel bad for being the b@stard that implied your music was loud, but it's like I'm in a jazz club with a thrash metal club next door. It's totally ruining a beautiful thing. And I really can't conceive how anyone can listen to music that busy and aggressive while at an office job. How does that not wind you up? IP: Logged |

My Virgo brother used to listen to thrash music to calm him down. Does your co-worker have ADD or something?Seriously, my friend does this as well. He plays this super loud techno crap all the time, in the car, house, whatever. Everyone is always shouting, "What, What??" He says slow music makes him feel like he's gonna crawl out of his skin, and fast music calms him down. He has ADD. IP: Logged |

Maybe she does, but I still don't get it. I have a very Mutable chart including Gemini rising. I've long known what it is to have that nervous energy coursing through my veins. My high school French teacher deemed me, "The Tapper," for my constant playing piano on my desk, or drumming my fingers. Yet I never developed this fascination with fast music.I had plenty of opportunity, too. It's not like I wasn't exposed to it. With the speed metal, it would just make me more tense. It's enough of a struggle to relax as it is. With techno it's probably more that it's boring. I grew up in the 80's with all of it's extraordinary use of the keyboard (synth). Why would I enjoy it dumbed down into techno? Maybe I'm too big a fan of the more traditional way of making music. I think bands are still modifying the old forms in innovative ways that are interesting to listen to. IP: Logged |

I'm a tapper too. I can't remember what in my chart showed that. But for some reason, I think that Aries rising would make someone like drumming, that's not anything I read, just a thought.I grew up in the 70's. I still like disco. I like mostly everything. but, I do agree. When I'm getting dressed to go out, I play alot of metal music, it DOES give me energy. At night, I'll listen to my playlist on myspace, which I've named, "Lullabyes for Insomniacs." You'd think I was 90 years old if you saw those playlists, but I can't sleep to Motley Crue, or whatever. Personally, I like working or shopping in places where they have that sort of mixed piped in music. It kind of fades into the background, but every now and then, You'll hear something you really liked and forgot all about, you know what I mean? Very un-virgo like to be so intrusive though. I mean my brother was, but he has issues. Most Virgos would be way too polite and concerned for others to go blaring their music that way. Maybe she just wants attention???? IP: Logged |

More alternate AG names:Juan Max Freddie Chuck Damien (LOL @ myself) Ernest Dustin Fernando Zack Preston Ziggy Xavier Corey Louis Brandon Tristan Crazy Horse Shawn (the French version of John, just trying to give you some flare, here) Elijah Greg Donald Andre' Phil Barnaby Romeo Jacob Teddy Bruce Fabio?? I could go on and on, and on....but you know that. Actually, (you're gonna hate this) in my head I call you, "Aggie." Not very manly, I know, but it's affectionate. I like to add the EEEEEE sound to peoples names that I like. Mike's are always, Mikey. Joe's are always, Joey. And, Ag's are always, Aggie. (0: IP: Logged |

I have to nix Dustin, Corey, Greg, Phil, Romeo, Bruce and Fabio. Most of them, because I just don't like them; Romeo and Fabio because they're too ostentatious. I'll have to admit liking Fernando if only because quirky songs are written about him. Aggie's interesting. Anton Geisel (AG) sounds great with my last name in my opinion. Fits the nationality of my last name. Geisel is Dr. Suess's real last name. IP: Logged |

Mmmm... the only thing that could be is my ex-roommate having a heart attack while with walking pneumonia, which happen the weekend prior to two weeks ago. He died a week ago. While things were in limbo I was rather numb about it. He was a sad character to know in the first place. He dug himself a nice hole that I never wanted to watch him fall in to. He may have fell in. I'm curious about his situation prior to his heart attack, but not enough to go bug someone about it. It could be pathetically sad like he was unemployed and on the verge of being homeless or something. Those were coming possibilities when I left. He did lose his job fairly shortly after I left last April, and was still reporting having been fired by that employer a couple weeks before his collapse. We had been having trouble keeping roommates before I left, which was pretty much the last straw for me. I couldn't live with the constant uncertainty of whether we'd have enough roommates to cover rent, especially as he in particular was always late with rent in the first place. It does get to me a little. I now watch hockey, which I didn't prior to living there, and our team is doing awesome once again this year. Could be the year they finally go all the way. It's strangely difficult for me to watch it now without thinking of him. I'm so NOT a sports guy with that single exception that he created. He turned me on to a sport I could actually bear watching. I haven't shed any tears for him. Not out any macho notions or anything. I just have faith that his demise was less painful than the pain he was going to endure in his life otherwise. There was very little hope even on his own part that he was ever going to escape a date with disaster. I like that you dreamed of me, though. I dream of random people I haven't met in person fairly often myself. I don't tend to remember the dream for very long, though. IP: Logged |

What's up LL? I've stayed in tonight. I'm contemplating doing my taxes. I'm always curious what my refund will be. Last year I actually had to pay $7. That shouldn't happen this year.IP: Logged |

Well, I started my taxes, and I'm not very happy with the results so far. I had them take out additional money from each paycheck to ensure I'd get a nice refund. Instead, the refund, while much better than last years, is still pretty pathetic. Did I really claim '2' allowances on my W-4? That doesn't seem like me. I usually pick zero.Ok, so now I'm further in the process, and I learn that without the stimulus credit, the tax withheld wouldn't have covered my tax liability (which does indeed mean that my refund is less than the $400 credit). I have to check this out. IP: Logged |

Yeah, I was using TurboTax, too. I'm just disturbed, because I fixed my W-4 last year. I'm having trouble imagining that I left myself a couple exemptions. And here's the thing as well, I often find that when I don't remember exactly what I did that I did the logical thing. Like if I'm not exactly sure where I left something I think about where I'd likely leave it, and I generally find it right there. I like getting a nice sum back at tax time, so after last year's flub I can't believe that I only partially fixed it. But, you know, if my company's HR people didn't convey all the changes I made to ADP, then there's really nothing to be done. Things worked out the way they did, and I just have to deal with it.
