It was that picture of me with the moustache wasn't it? I knew it would drive you wild.

I just saw a sign at Oakland Airport that I thought read, "Go OAK Go AWAY," which I thought was awesome. It really said, "Go OAK Go AirAsia." ... IP: Logged |

I'm here in Tennessee!Interesting that the first one-on-one conversation I had with my mom was about how she thinks that I probably have ADD, and they didn't know how to deal with it back when I was growing up. She was saying how I notice everything, and we both recounted several examples of how this was true. I didn't have to pay attention in class in order to get the lessons. I'd hear it all. I always tested well. I think it was a bit of an apology on her part, because earlier this year I had a bit of a meltdown talking with my little sister about how my parents let me down educationally. My little sister was telling me that I've always been known to be smartest of us siblings as recounted by my parents, and my question was, "Why did they let me down so much then?" So it's interesting. I do believe it's a blessing that ADD wasn't in vogue back then. I'm a bit leery of the drugs they're using to treat it. I've recently heard somewhere that the drugs actually create a problem in the brain, whereas the issue it treats isn't necessarily a problem. Surely there are worse things in life than the ability to notice more than the common man coupled with a bit of nervous energy. My little Aqua sister is really pretty impressive. I think she acts as the glue for our family more than anyone else. IP: Logged |

My brother is your age, just a few months apart. And where I was from ADD meds were used, but only in extreme cases. At two years old my brother would stay awake for 48 hours straight. Often. My poor Mom took him to the emergency room many a time, only to be turned out. Eventually, they did put him on Ridalin, per the instance of the school system. I can never, as long as I live, get the imagine of him sitting on the couch, trying to eat his after school snack, but falling asleep in it, drooling. It was awful. They wanted him to continue taking it, because he just refused to focus on what they wanted him to learn. But my brother has a photographic memory and was also a musical prodigy. Sometimes with the creative genius, comes much hardship, as we all know. Anyway, he refused to take it after awhile because he said, while he could now concentrate, and learn, he had no other thoughts. What he meant was he was cut off from his creative source. Which is the exact reason why I have refused to take anti-depressants, which are highly recommended to people whom have chronic illness. I'de rather be down about it now and then, and still FEEL. We are supposed to feel. Who wants a classroom full of Stepford Children. EWW. creepy. Congrats on your warm reception, and insightful sister. Hoping you have the very best holiday.....much deserved. xoxox IP: Logged |

Thankfully I wasn't as wired as your brother. I think there must be something to the weightiness of Capricorn or Saturn in the 1st. I'm simultaneously calm (and grounded) and hyper. My mom mentioned that my incessant tapping was probably another indication of it. She says that when she deals with young people seemingly like this now she gives them something to do with their hands, so that they can feed their need to keep busy. She recognizes that, like me, they retain what's going on in the class otherwise. Just because they give the appearance of not paying attention, doesn't mean they can't recall everything. It's like the story I told two pages back about being at my roommate's parent's house for Thanksgiving. No one noticed me dissecting that painting when I initially did it. I notice stuff while participating in other ways. IP: Logged |

....And I heard it is extremely tacky as well. I dunno maybe the decor of the day, or maybe The King didn't believe in highering decorators.*You reminded me of that song by Marc Cohn, "Walkin in Mephis." I love that song! Put on my blue suede shoes and I boarded the plane touched down in the land of the Delta blues in the middle of the pouring rain W.C. Handy watchin down over me Yeah, I got a first class ticket, but I'm as blue as a boy can be I'm walkin in Memphis walkin with my feet ten feet off of Beale walkin in Memphis, but do you really feel the way I feel? I saw the ghost of Elvis on Union Avenue followed him up to the gates of Graceland and then I watched him walk right through now, security did not see me they just hovered around his tomb but there's a pretty little thing, waitin for the King, down in The Jungle Room! chorus They've got catfish on the table they've got gospel in the air Rev. Green be glad to see ya, when you haven't got a prayer But boy you got a prayer in Memphis Muriel plays piano, every friday in The Hollywood and they brought me down to see her and they asked me if I would do a little number, and I sang with all my might she said, "tell me are you a Christian child?" and I said, "Ma'am I am tonight!" chorus repeat first two line. NOW THAT IS A SONG, dang, that one gets me in the guts, have no idea why. Enjoy your visit. Keep an eye out for Elvis! IP: Logged |

Fat free Half and Half has less than 2% cream. How is that Half and Half?!Last night I dreampt that I had a bad experience at a restaurant. While I guess I should be thankful it wasn't a real experience, it's annoying that that kind of stuff can happen in your dream time as well. IP: Logged |

I think it might unfortunately, and I feel like my hands are a bit tied with regard to self-treatment (Let my Virgo Moon and Mars in Scorpio in the 6th do it's thing!!) Today, like yesterday, I'm stuck at home with no one around. Parents are at work. I can walk places, BUT this city is so anti-pedestrian. There are no sidewalks, no crosswalks, and no pedestrian traffic lights. I tried walking around yesterday. Made me nervous. Fortunately, I found a Michael's craft store very nearby, so I spent some time there. So I'm stuck with generic Mucinex, which works a little. I'm not sure if it's actually treating the cause. I bet it's more treating the symptom. IP: Logged |

Try cutting out the mucus-forming foods like milk and cheese. That should make a difference. Do you have some citrus fruit around? Eat a load of those - high in Vitamin C. You can also do a warm face bath with some herbal tea - just boil the water, put some tea bags in and breathe it in under a towel.I like sweating my colds out at night. Just bundle yourself up, drink a lot of liquids and sweat like crazy. Soak your feet in really hot water too. It helps. Having a cold for Christmas sucks. IP: Logged |

I finally figured out how to get my Blackberry software on my computer. My CD/DVD drive on my computer doesn't always work well, so I thought it was an issue with the drive. You always install the software before the device, so I didn't think to plug my Blackberry into the computer. Tonight I tried that (plugging the Blackberry in), and it installed something automatically. Then the CD worked just fine. IP: Logged |
